MINI JCW Racing Team Finishes Strong at COTA

It was a good weekend to be at the TC America race week 3 held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas if you were a part of the MIN JCW Racing Team. With two races taking place this weekend, the team had two opportunities to take victories and they did just that.

Race 1

Race one saw Clayton Williams driving his #60 MINI JCW TC car from second position up to first past pole-sitter Celso Neto in his Honda Civic Type-R. The two swapped positions back and forth right up until the last lap of the race where Williams made the final overtake to finish the race in first for a thrilling finish. Christian Perorcarpi showed a respectable 4th place finish in race one in his first season in his new TC MINI JCW #37. In the TCA class, MINI JCW drivers PJ Groenke (#62) and Alain Lauzirie (#64) finished 4th and 6th respectively.

Race 2

Race two saw even better results for the MINI JCW Racing Team in the TC class. From the very first lap, Clayton Williams, in the #60 JCW, takes the lead from Celso Neto where he would hold onto it for the remainder of the race. The third lap of the race would see Christian Perocarpi, in his #37 JCW, dive past Celso Neto and hold onto that position for the rest of the race to take second place in the race giving the MINI JCW Racing Team first and second place finishes in the second race. A double podium at COTA is a great way to end the weekend. TCA class results saw Alain Lauzirie (#64) in 5th and PJ Groenke (#62) finish a few laps down despite starting first for the race.

Standings

With the double victory at COTA this weekend and earning 25 points each race, we see Clayton Williams move to the top of the standings for individual driver with 113 points total. The MINI JCW Racing Team also takes the top team standing spot in the TC class after the stellar results this weekend.

The next opportunity to watch the MINI JCW Racing Team race their MINI Coopers will be at Virginia International Raceway June 16-18.
